In this role you will work with the Product team, Infrastructure team, and QA team, to produce highly maintainable, efficient, and highly reliable code. Your goal will be to develop software, including webapps and desktop, which handle large amount data to trade on, monitor, and control a highly efficient technology used by several markets around the world, including ourselves.
• Designs, codes, tests, integrates, and documents scalable front-end applications and APIs.
• Collaborates with UX designers to translate wireframes and mock-ups into high-quality, responsive applications.
• Provides technical leadership to more junior employees and other teams.
• Participate as a Subject Matter Expert in internal review of software components and systems.
• Apply and champion the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products.
• Keep abreast of technology trends and champion new ideas and process improvements.
• 5+ years development experience in frontend development, ideally with at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript with React.
• Deep knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and web fundamentals (accessibility, security, performance, responsive design, cross-browser compatibility etc.).
• Experience designing and developing data driven applications (ideally, but not necessarily, for finance/trading use cases).
• Experience implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Comfortable developing on WSL/Linux.
• Python development knowledge is a plus; you will need to work with Python APIs.
• Good understanding of version control and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of capital markets technologies, protocols, and standards will help but not mandatory.
• Understanding of cloud technology, and Infrastructure as Code is also a plus.
• Most importantly, a drive to solve complex technological problems with a great team of talented developers.

The Product and Project Management team sits at the crossroads of most departments in the company, acting as the central coordination group touching development, sales/client management, operations, surveillance, quality assurance and senior management.
- Requirements gathering – comprehensive scoping of stakeholder needs, collaborating closely with our development teams to translate these requirements and implement an engineering solution.
- Project management – drive the delivery of product initiatives. Defining project timelines and identifying dependencies and risks to delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication – Liaise with external and internal stakeholders (including sales, operations, compliance, surveillance, and technical teams) to provide updates and ensure product objectives are met.
- Contribution to the Product Roadmap – contribute to the product roadmap in line with Aquis’ evolving business priorities.
- Client Onboarding –develop and provide comprehensive training materials (in English) for internal teams and clients, ensuring a clear understanding of product features and functionalities.
- Innovate and collaborate – Solve problems with innovative solutions. Have the confidence to challenge stakeholders and determine the most appropriate solution. Propose process, technology, and framework changes to improve implementations.
- Risk assessment – Appropriately assess risks and identify any required actions required to mitigate risks.
- Using tools such as MS Project to manage forecasts.
The successful candidate will have a strong and positive work ethic with the ability to forge lasting relationships (both internal and external) at all levels. You do not need to have all the skills and experiences to apply for the role. However, the appetite and ability to learn these in the role is a must.
- Experience as a business analyst, with a demonstrated ability to build out requirements for trading technology solutions in fixed income.
- Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- A proven track record of delivering multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality of work.
- Experience working with engineering teams in line with Agile/scrum Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology, translating business requirements into stories and epics.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining clear, comprehensive technical documentation and API specifications.
- Understanding of ultra-low latency distributed computing environment
- Familiarity with FIX trading protocol and market data systems.
- Understanding of networking (TCP and UDP) and multicast data delivery
- Understanding of traditional and on-premises physical infrastructure and distributed server architectures running on Linux.
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment.

Aquis Exchange PLC is looking to hire a technical manager to lead the Linux System Administration teams. This role is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the Linux infrastructure team, including both senior-level system administrators and the Linux support desk staff. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical Linux-based systems including multiple exchanges as well as providing strategic direction, operational excellence, effective team leadership and close collaboration with other departments.
- The successful candidate will manage both the Linux internal support team as well as a senior sysadmin team of experienced professionals. These teams oversee the entire Aquis Linux estate including development, QA and multiple production trading systems including some belonging to third party clients.
- Collaborate with development, networks, ops and product teams on strategic IT initiatives.
- Assist with planning, management and resource allocation of inter-departmental projects alongside the Aquis PM team.
- Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, and rapid resolution of system outages or performance degradation.
- Ensure compliance of Aquis procedures such as change management, patch management and security and audit processes. Assist in the maintenance of these procedures.
- Support regular security audits and penetration tests, addressing findings and oversee any remediation work.
- Improve system monitoring, alerting, documentation, operating procedures and incident response processes.
- Manage, mentor, plan and coordinate the activities of both teams.
- 7+ years Linux system administration experience with at least 3 years in a managerial or team lead role.
- Strong expertise with RHEL-based systems, including installation, ongoing management, monitoring, performance tuning, system security hardening, etc.
- Proven track record of managing geographically distributed teams, including senior engineers and tier-1/2 support staff including on-call and rota scheduling.
- Experience in managing complex IT projects, including system migrations and infrastructure upgrades.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and experience implementing security measures in a regulated environment.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and upskill staff; develop career paths and ensure team resilience.
- Experience undertaking root cause analysis including prevention orientated solution reporting.
- Working experience with deployment tools (e.g. GitLab pipelines) and rollback strategies.
- Proficiency in managing bare-metal servers, virtualization platforms such as VMware, containerised systems as well as familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and DevOPS practices.
- Familiarity with incident / problem management and change control workflows a plus.
- Previous experience with low latency systems or financial experience desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with operations desks, application developers, compliance teams, and executive leadership
