In this role you will work with the Product team, Infrastructure team, and QA team, to produce high performance, low latency and highly reliable code. To be successful in this role as a Sr. Software Engineer – C++, you will be a proponent of agile methodology and modern software best practices. You can produce detailed technical work in OOP and work with other members of the Development team to produce code of high-quality standards. Ideally, you should have worked in critical systems development in the past.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Codes, tests, integrates, and documents software.
- Provides technical leadership to more junior employees and other teams.
- Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of complex products.
- Participate as a Subject Matter Expert in internal review of software components and systems.
- Work on the hardest technical problems facing the company, often these problems are unusually complex and require the utmost creativity and innovation.
- Apply and champion the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products.

- 8 years development experience in >= C++11 and Boost creating performant, scalable applications.
- Exposure to real-time systems. By that we mean systems processing frequent events in a timely manner.
- 5+ years of experience in networking (UDP, Multicasting, TCP, etc...), messaging, and algorithms.
- 5+ years of experience on Linux systems.
- Good understanding of modern development best practices and methodologies
- Python.
- Git.
- SQL.
- Knowledge of capital markets technologies, protocols, and standards such as FIX and SBE.
- Most importantly, a drive to solve complex technological and trading problematics with a great team of talented developers.

Job Overview
The Product and Project Management team sits at the crossroads of most departments in the company, acting as the central coordination group touching development, sales/client management, operations, surveillance, quality assurance and senior management.

As part of the Product Management team, you will own the analysis and implementation of new initiatives and features for the Technologies department but closely interacting with the stake holders across all 3 of Aquis’ business lines. Acting as a bridge between our stakeholders and engineering, you will be responsible for ensuring that product features align with the clients/business needs, gathering requirements, project planning, documenting solutions and more.
This role will involve extensive interaction with external stakeholders and requires in depth knowledge on tradable financial products. Occasional business travel will be required.
A high degree of attention to detail and professionalism is key to the role of maintaining client relationships. The successful candidate should be able to own and manage new product features concurrently, overseeing the delivery of software throughout the SDLC and escalating risks to delivery where appropriate. An understanding of regulated markets, trading venues and cross-asset instruments (such as equities and ETFs but also listed derivatives and bonds) will also be beneficial. Affinity with the technical aspects of trading will be a positive.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Requirements gathering – comprehensive scoping of stakeholder needs, collaborating closely with our development teams to translate these requirements and implement an engineering solution.
- Project management – drive the delivery of product initiatives. Defining project timelines and identifying dependencies and risks to delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication – Liaise with external and internal stakeholders (including sales, operations, compliance, surveillance, and technical teams) to provide updates and ensure product objectives are met.
- Contribution to the Product Roadmap – contribute to the product roadmap in line with Aquis’ evolving business priorities.
- Client Onboarding – develop and provide comprehensive training materials (in English) for internal teams and clients, ensuring a clear understanding of product features and functionalities.
- Innovate and collaborate – Solve problems with innovative solutions. Have the confidence to challenge stakeholders and determine the most appropriate solution. Propose process, technology, and framework changes to improve implementations.
- Risk assessment – Appropriately assess risks and identify any required actions required to mitigate risks.
- Using tools such as MS Project to manage forecasts.

The primary responsibilities of the Support Team Lead will be maintaining and running the Aquis and Aquis client exchange platforms.
The primary responsibilities of the Support Team Lead will be maintaining and running the Aquis and Aquis client exchange platforms.
You will be the first point of contact for operational support related to maintaining and running the Aquis and Aquis client exchange platforms. You will lead a small but dynamic team responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of our services, particularly during market hours. Your role will blend hands-on technical support with leadership responsibilities, as well as exposure to equity and derivatives trading environments.
Aquis is a growing business and this list of exchanges which the Exchange Operations Team supports may grow in the future.
The operations team currently work a weekly shift rota covering the hours 07:00-18:00. There may also be some evening and weekend work.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible, along with other operational team members, for the day-to-day running and maintenance of the Aquis platforms
- Leading and mentoring a 1st line support team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Providing first line support, answering phone calls and monitoring help desk systems, dealing with basic issues and escalating other calls to the appropriate person
- Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries
- Performing troubleshooting and collection of information for effective issue diagnosis and internal escalation
- Maintain security reference data for the admissions/withdrawals/amends/edits of securities across all platforms
- Maintain and enhance knowledge base and documentation
- Work with other departments (Compliance, Surveillance, Infrastructure and Sales) to ensure appropriately monitored live operations of all platforms
- Raise and deploy changes to support the day to day running of multiple exchange platforms
- Compile outage reports for any production outages which occur on the operated platforms once the outage has been rectified
- Ensure processes are streamlined
- Ensure process maps are followed to reduce risk
- Work with teams internally to streamline and enhance operational tool functionality and capture requirements for future development
- Take part in release review meetings prior to upgrades
Required Skills/Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong technical foundation, relevant business understanding, and proven team leadership experience. You should be calm under pressure, collaborative, and eager to take ownership of problems.
Essential
- Degree level qualification and/or 5 years of experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
- Prior experience in operation or technical support role
- Ability to troubleshoot across application, network, and infrastructure layers
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms to a non-technical audience
- Ability to troubleshoot across application, network, and infrastructure layers
- Experience with FIX Protocol
- Strong understanding to UK and EU equity & derivative markets including exchange work flows, order types and understanding of trade lifecycle
- Ability to write SQL queries and a strong understanding of relational databases
- Hands-on knowledge of Linux-based systems, with confidence in using command-line tools for troubleshooting
- Previous use of GIT version control or similar
- Team leadership experience within a 24/7 or high-availability technical support environment

Job Overview
The primary responsibility of the market surveillance regulatory department of Aquis Exchange is to carry out real-time and T+1 market surveillance to ensure the maintenance of an orderly market and compliance of all regulatory requirements in traded equity securities. The Surveillance Analyst will work as part of a team to supervise market activity, utilising various methodologies including electronic monitoring tools and alerts, and liaising with external customers and regulatory bodies. The Surveillance Analyst will also assist in the continued design and development of the in-house built market surveillance system. They will also assist in the supervision of Aquis surveillance clients in other asset classes.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Surveillance of client activity on Aquis Exchange platforms.
- Assist in the development of Surveillance system enhancements and subsequent testing.
- Identifying issues with Surveillance systems and raising with development.
- To draft quarterly ARCC reports associated with the departments activity, including data and rationale for discrepancies in alert numbers.
- Closely monitor the Surveillance manual of both Aquis and Technology Clients.
- Assist the Head of Market Supervision with identification of regulatory issues impacting transaction authorisation, structure, execution and marketing with the provision of potential solutions and / or alternatives if required.
- Prepare documentation for FCA STOR visits, as well as post-analysis of remedial actions.
- Maintain the trading holiday calendar, monitoring when markets have half-days or are closed.
- Maintaining reference prices, as well as monitoring the security status of stocks.
- Assist with identifying market abuse risks and Near Miss and submitting STORs to the FCA.
- Maintain close communication with Technology Clients, answering queries about Surveillance as well as the Surveillance system.
- Approval of Operational trading notices.
- Well-versed in Emergency Business Continuity Procedures (EBCP), in the event of an outage, and providing incident reports.
- Provide alert data and minutes for weekly team meetings.
- Assist with maintaining the FCA MDP portal.
- Participate in regulatory correspondance such as Surveillance investigations, rulebook updates and data reporting.
- Actively participate in maintaining the Surveillance Monitoring Programme by owning deliverables.
- Carry out KYC checks in investigations.
Required Skills/Experience
- Market Surveillance experience from within a bank, broker or venue;
- Good knowledge of FCA and exchange rules, systems experience (Refinitiv/Bloomberg), full understanding of market abuse risks, including experience of MAR5 Risk Analysis process.
- Business understanding of equity, equity related products and other asset classes;
- Excellent team player, able to work on own initiative with limited supervision;
- Ability to establish strong working relationships and influence key stakeholders

- ISEB/ISTQB Foundation Certified
- Experience with Containers and Docker usage.

Responsibilities and Duties
- 1st line desktop, voice and remote access support across Aquis offices and remote users.
- Setup new IT equipment for users, including laptops, desktops, telephones, and mobile phones.
- Managing users and groups within Active Directory.
- Responsible for implementing approved procedures (change control, joiners/leavers, etc.)
- Support and maintain Microsoft Teams AV equipment.
- Prepare and maintain up to date documentation.
- Manage relationships and work with vendors to escalate issues when appropriate.
Required Skills/Experience
- Preferred background in IT through college or university studies, or a similar educational pathway; however, candidates with a genuine passion for IT and a strong desire to learn and develop their technical skills will also be considered.
- Strong ability to diagnose and resolve issues with Windows 11 and Microsoft Office 365, including standard desktop applications.
- Experience managing users and groups within Active Directory desirable.
- Installing new software and hardware (laptops, printers, workstations, etc.).
- Troubleshooting 1st line VPN, and networking issues.
- Working knowledge of MDM (mobile device management) software desirable.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks within a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.

In this role you will work with the Product team, Infrastructure team, and QA team, to produce highly maintainable, efficient, and highly reliable code. Your goal will be to develop software, including webapps and desktop, which handle large amount data to trade on, monitor, and control a highly efficient technology used by several markets around the world, including ourselves.

You can produce detailed technical work in OOP and work with other members of the Development team to produce code of high-quality standards. Ideally, you should have worked in data driven and containerised front-end applications in the past.

- Scope and design regression testing (manual & automated)
- Monitor and report testing of large systems
- Create and maintain strong working relationships, with internal departments and business groups
- Take ownership of delegated tasks and see things through to completion
- Support the QA team in implementation of strategic solutions, including test automation
- Ensure and maintain quality delivery of all releases
- Liaise with technical and business analysts on requirements and solution definition
- Act as test lead for small projects
- Defect and issue management. Escalation as appropriate

Job Overview
The Senior Security Engineer is responsible for the hands-on security of the company's trading infrastructure, networks, and systems. The role combines technical security operations (vulnerability management, penetration testing, incident response) with compliance obligations under ISO 27001, DORA, and FCA operational resilience requirements. The engineer will work closely with the Dev. Engineering, DevOps, IT, and infrastructure teams and is expected to understand the specific threat surface of a regulated exchange environment.

The role combines technical security operations (vulnerability management, penetration testing, incident response) with compliance obligations under ISO 27001, DORA, and FCA operational resilience requirements. The engineer will work closely with the Dev. Engineering, DevOps, IT, and infrastructure teams and is expected to understand the specific threat surface of a regulated exchange environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist with the operation of Aquis security and vulnerability management platforms including maintaining the relationship with SIX group SOC.
- Manage and document security incidents in line with DORA reporting timelines. Provide on-call support for such incidents.
- Assess, monitor, and mitigate risks arising from the evolving threat landscape (e.g. AI based attacks)
- Establish and enforce governance the use of third-party software and AI technologies within the organisation.
- Assist with the patching lifecycle of Linux, Windows and network connected systems.
- Audit and remediation of internal policies such as FW rules, O365 and MDM policies alongside the respective teams.
- Responsible for internal and external penetration testing across network, application, and infrastructure layers including threat-led, red team and tabletop incident simulation exercises.
- Review technology architecture changes from a security perspective and provide documented recommendations.
- Contribute to secure design of software R&D working with development teams.
- Assess on-prem and cloud infrastructure against CIS benchmarks and internal policy.
- Maintain ISO 27001 certification: own the ISMS, manage audits, drive remediation.
- Support DORA compliance programme in coordination with Risk Officer and Operation Engineers, including ICT risk register, third-party assessments, and incident reporting.
- Support the development and assurance of key resilience documentation, including operational resilience materials, the Cyber Incident Response Plan (CIRP), and BCP.
- Promote security awareness through employee training and phishing simulations.
Required Skills/Experience
5+ years in a hands-on security engineering or security operations role.
Demonstrable experience with penetration testing (network, application, Infrastructure).
Linux systems administration and hardening (the production environment is Linux-based).
Knowledge of MDM and windows-based security principles.
Digital certificates and PKI: issuance, renewal, and Certificate Authority (CA) processes
Network security: firewall policy, IDS/IPS, packet capture and analysis.
Scripting in Python for security automation (log parsing, threat hunting, tooling).
AWS security: IAM, Security Hub, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, VPC security design.
Experience managing SIEM, MDR and vulnerability management platforms.
Familiarity with financial services regulatory frameworks: DORA, FCA SYSC/PS21/3, NIS2 / UK NIS Regulations.
Working knowledge of ISO 27001 ISMS management and audit processes.
Desirable candidates should have relevant accreditations such as OSCP, CISSP or CREST CPSA (entry-level CREST) as a minimum. CREST CCT (Infrastructure or Web Application) strongly preferred. Candidates without relevant accreditation at hire will be supported in obtaining it within 18 months.
AWS Certified Security Specialty desirable.
Exposure to trading environments, and static code analysis tools (e.g. SonarQube).
Familiarity with threat intelligence feeds (e.g. FS-ISAC, NCSC) and their application in security operations.
